Have you watched white patches on your sink? A droplet of water fell on your kitchen slab creates white patch there too if left unnoticed for long? All these are due to the hardness of water. That is in turn because of the presence of contents like calcium and magnesium in water. Not only calcium and magnesium but radium, manganese etc also might be present in your water. The rust kind of formation on your shower is due to the iron content in your water. Such materials damage the appliances you use at home – like washing machine, dishwashers and also tamper the look of these appliances. Do not worry! There is a way to get out of such elements presents in your water. How? Via the usage of water softeners procured from WATER SOFTENER PLANT in India.
Water softeners
Water softeners remove manganese, iron, radium, calcium, magnesium etc from the water. This is done via a process called ion exchange. They exchange the manganese, calcium, magnesium, radium ions with ions like sodium. Thus the hardness causing ions are removed from the water turning it into soft water. Later the sodium ions and other dirt materials are washed away into the drain area.
Two types of water softener
There are mainly two models of water softeners – the cabinet model and the side by side model. The cabinet model water softener comes in a single cabinet structure. The side by side model is the one recommended by experts as the water softening & regeneration functioning happens in it without demanding the whole shut down of the system functioning.
Note: Regeneration is the process in which the hardness causing ions captured while softening the water is flushed away (in order to maintain the efficiency of the water softener).
How exactly a water softener works?
Let us explain the working of a water softener based on the side by side model (as it gives more clarity). The side by side model has two parts. One part is called brine tank and the other part is called the resin tank. The resin tank is where the real water softening process happens. It consists of plastic beads called as resins. These resins have ion like sodium stuck to it via electrostatic force. The ions causing water hardness are caught by these resin beads and sodium ions are given away instead of it. Thus the water hardness is removed via ion exchange process.
The capacity of the tank to soften water has a limit. The limit is reached when the resin beads loose all the sodium ions in exchange of the hardness causing ions. The tank has to be cleaned once this occurs. Here comes the role of the brine tank. Brine tank has water touching the salt. The salt water is called as brine solution and this solution is responsible for cleaning the resin tank. The salt water get pumped through the resin tank cleaning the resins and flushing the dirt & hardness causing ions into the drain.
New sodium ions get attached to the resin beads while washing them with salt water. Thus the resins become once more capable of removing hardness causing ions from water via exchanging sodium ions (the ion exchange process). The process via which the resin beads earn sodium ions & leave hardness causing ions and become capable again of softening hard water is called regeneration.
Usage of water softeners keeps you away from the rust kind of formations on your showers. It prevents formation of white spots on your appliances too. The appliances at your home which use water do not get damaged because of the hard water issues anymore once you use water softeners. The soft water produced works softly on your skin and prevents any harm on it. Get in touch with Automatic Water Softener Manufacturers in India as soon as possible. You don’t have to worry about all the above working processes once you buy automatic water softener. You have to control the softening & cleaning process only at times; when necessary. Else the automatic water softener takes care of the softening job itself without demanding much of your time.
